It is time to drop the puck for the new league in Boston. We have already had two games in the book around the league but now it is time for Boston to start their march to a trophy.

Just the facts

When: Tonight, 7:00 PM

Where: Tsongas Arena, Lowell, MA

How to follow: NESN, NESN 360, PWHL YouTube (Out of Market)

Know your enemy

  • Kendall Coyne-Schoefield; Taylor Heise; Lee Stecklein: PWHL Minnesota like every team is loaded with talent, Minnesota has a lot of homegrown national team talon that will be a dangerous threat.
  • Nicole Hensley; Maddie Rooney; Amada Leveille: Hensley is the likely starter but Rooney is a solid backup and Leveille has been a very consistent presence in net.

Game notes

  • PWHL Boston has some big shoes to fill as both previous professional iterations in the Hub have been very successful.
  • While most of these players have seen each other in college, national team duty, PWHPA play, or previous professional leagues these rosters are all new so there will be plenty to learn.
  • Minnesota was immediately put into a good slot by the prognosticators after the draft with the wealth of Minnesota born talent they selected, they were also a major destination for free agents.
  • We don’t know lines yet for either team but Boston will have plenty of intriguing pairings to play with.
  • We assume Aerin Frankel will be the first goaltender to get the nod tonight but Emma Soderberg will be a strong presence on the bench and will likely see a game sooner rather then later.
  • Hilary Knight was named captain yesterday by former Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron, Jamie Lee Rattray and Megan Keller will be the assistants.
