We’ve all been spelling Pop Douglas’ name wrong this whole time

Turns out it is “DeMario” and not “Demario.”

The New England Patriots’ sixth-round rookie wide receiver goes by his nickname, “Pop.” The back of his jersey only reads his last name, “Douglas.”

And whenever you read about him you will naturally see his first name as well. Turns out, however, we have all been spelling it wrong this whole time.

While seemingly everybody — including the Patriots’ own media guide — have been spelling it as “Demario” the young pass catcher himself clarified on Wednesday that it actually should be spelled differently.

“The M in my name is capitalized,” he said.

DeMario Douglas added that he is not angry about the common misspelling, though. In fact, he himself had to learn how to properly spell his name in school after his mother told him that he misspelled it himself.

“It’s good because from elementary to third grade, I was spelling it wrong,” he said. “It’s all good.”

Douglas was drafted 210th overall by the Patriots and has developed into a productive player for the team. Appearing in 12 games, he has caught 44 passes for 517 yards.
