Plus, Triston Casas has a new ‘do.

Okay, so they still haven’t gotten any decent pitching yet, but the Red Sox may be close to checking off something that was further down on the list: right-handed power. We’ve now heard multiple reports that the Sox are aggressively pursuing outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, formerly of the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. The sticking point may be that Hernandez is looking for a four-year deal; it’s unclear whether Craig Breslow is willing to offer that much for a 31-year-old whose offensive numbers have been trending downward since his 2021 All-Star selection. But Teoscar is hardly the only free agent the Red Sox with whom the Sox are in communication. The latest rumors have the team connected to Cuban pitcher Yariel Rodriguez, recent Cy Young contender Lucas Giolito, and Japanese pitcher Shota Imanaga. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)

And, oh yeah, remember Miguel Bleis? At this time last year, there were some scouts and evaluators who thought he was a better prospect than Marcelo Mayer. A lost season due to shoulder surgery has put a dent in his status, but he’s back on field (Instagram)
