The second injury report heading into Week 15 at Gillette Stadium.

The New England Patriots continued preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs without three members of the active roster.

Trent Brown and Brenden Schooler marked the new absences on Thursday, joining running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who has not practiced since suffering a high ankle sprain on Dec. 3 versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

Illnesses sidelined the starting left tackle as well as the co-leader in snaps played on special teams.

Here’s the second injury report ahead of Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.

DID NOT PARTICIPATE

Patriots

  • RB Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle)
  • OT Trent Brown (ankle, hand, illness)
  • ST Brenden Schooler (illness)

Chiefs

  • RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder)
  • OT Donovan Smith (neck)
  • S Mike Edwards (illness)

Brown had been limited and questionable due to lingering ankle and hand issues prior to rotating in at left tackle last Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. As for Schooler, the core defensive back has missed just one game since arriving in Foxborough as an undrafted free agent in 2022. But New England’s leader in carries, catches and scrimmage yards remains a non-participant after being ruled ahead of Week 14. And as for the reigning Super Bowl champions, Kansas City also practiced without three, including Pacheco. The starting running back via Rutgers was inactive last Sunday because of a shoulder injury.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • WR Demario Douglas (concussion)
  • WR DeVante Parker (knee)
  • WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (ankle)
  • WR Kayshon Boutte (shoulder)
  • WR Tyquan Thornton (hamstring)
  • DT Christian Barmore (shoulder)
  • ST Matthew Slater (not injury related)

Chiefs

  • LB Nick Bolton (wrist, abdomen)

Douglas returned to practice on Wednesday after residing in the NFL’s concussion protocol for consecutive games. But by Thursday, a total of five wide receivers were held to limited participation for the Patriots. Thornton would be the newest name among them. The sophomore from Baylor was added due to a hamstring injury seven days after Parker, Boutte as well as the team’s rookie leader in receiving yards went to the inactives list.

FULL PARTICIPATION

Patriots

  • OT Tyrone Wheatley Jr. (knee)

Chiefs

  • RB Jerick McKinnon (groin)
  • WR Kadarius Toney (hip)
  • WR Justyn Ross (not injury related)
  • LB Leo Chenal (illness)
  • LB Drue Tranquill (concussion)
  • CB L’Jarius Sneed (knee)
  • S Justin Reid (knee)

The Patriots opened Wheatley Jr.’s 21-day window to return as work on the Chiefs got underway. The August trade acquisition, who has resided on injured reserve with a knee issue since October, moves forward in full for the offensive line. And on the other side of the flexed-out matchup, Kansas City’s list of full participants grew from six to seven on Thursday.
