The New England Patriots will visit the Denver Broncos short an additional two starters.

The organization downgraded tight end Hunter Henry and offensive tackle Conor McDermott to out prior to traveling on Saturday.

Both veterans had been listed as questionable on the final injury report of Week 16.

Henry, 29, missed consecutive practices before returning as a limited participant on Friday. Standing with 42 receptions for 419 yards and a team-leading six touchdowns on the season, the team captain suffered a knee injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. Henry had not missed a game since arriving in Foxborough by way of the Los Angeles Chargers as an unrestricted free agent in 2021. The 2016 second-round pick out of Arkansas currently ranks third on New England’s offense with 75.2 percent of the snaps played.

McDermott, 31, entered the NFL’s concussion protocol during what became a 27-17 loss to the defending Super Bowl champions at Gillette Stadium. Three sidelined practices followed. The UCLA product, taken in the sixth round of the 2017 draft, has started five of his six appearances since returning to the Patriots as part of the practice squad in October. He signed to the 53-man roster after serving as a three-time standard elevation and has played 228 snaps at left tackle amid attrition and a rotation.

The Patriots previously ruled out running back Rhamondre Stevenson, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and safety Jabrill Peppers for Christmas Eve.

Seven members of the active roster remain listed as questionable, including incumbent blindside blocker Trent Brown, who was inactive last week due to ankle and hand injuries as well as an illness.

Sunday’s kickoff at Mile High’s Empower Field is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
