Morning Skate: Missed

Juuuuust a bit outside.

It is Wednesday, my dudes.

You kind of knew as soon as that Jake DeBrusk shot missed the net that the game was over, right?

It seems like any time there’s a missed shot (like off the glass and bouncing around, not just “a shot that isn’t a goal”) in 3-on-3 overtime, an odd-man rush ensues and the game ends shortly thereafter.

There are plenty of things to be frustrated about when looking back at last night’s game (blowing another third period lead, for example), but it’s also fair to wonder if this was just one of those nights where the other team’s goalie stood on his head and won the game.

Maybe a little bit of both? Probably a little bit of both.

Ultimately, it goes down as another OT loss for the Bruins, the team’s third in its last four games.

Interestingly, the one win in that span of four games also occurred in extra time (shootout over the Islanders).

Maybe the Bruins just love hockey so much they can’t stand to only play 60 minutes. That must be it.

The B’s will be back at it on Friday night, when they kick off a three-game road trip with a trip to Winnipeg.

At Winnipeg, at Minnesota, at Buffalo, all in a row. In December.

Someone in the scheduling office has beef with the Bruins.

What’s on tap for today?
