New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick called an audible on Friday morning when his typical press conference was moved to a virtual media call. The reason behind the change? The future Hall of Famer is dealing with an illness.

Despite clearly being under the weather, however, he said that he expects to be good to go for Sunday’s upcoming season finale against the visiting New York Jets. Belichick has not missed a game in his 24-year career as Patriots head coach.

For Belichick, the game will put an end to his worst season since arriving in New England in 2000. The Patriots are currently just 4-12, and headed toward a top-3 selection in the upcoming draft.

Whether or not the 71-year-old will be the one running that draft also is in question now. Belichick and the Patriots’ ownership — Robert and Jonathan Kraft — will meet to discuss the future of the franchise, and his role within it, on Monday.

Patriots-Jets meanwhile is scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday, Dec. 7.
